UPDATE: With Lenovo, Russian antitrust probing HP on suspected cartel too
(Adds more data in last two paragraphs)
MOSCOW, Nov 18 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service is checking not only China’s Lenovo, but also the U.S.’ Hewlett-Packard (HP) and other companies on suspicion of participating in a cartel focused on delivering electronics for state needs, a service spokesperson said Friday.
“In total, over 10 companies are involved into the case on cartel suspicions,” the spokesperson said without disclosing other names. “Checks will be on for at least a month.”
The service said on Thursday it had started probing Lenovo, whose employees obstructed the scrutiny.
A Lenovo spokesperson said Friday: “We confirm that the antitrust service’s people came to Lenovo’s office within the scope of a certain statement that it had received. Representatives of the company responded to questions of representatives of the authority.” He added that there was no talk about a cartel.
An HP spokesperson said the company is studying the information and decline to comment.
